Drs. Butler and Waldroop have published three books on career development,
numerous articles in prestigious magazines, and are frequent commentators
in the media regarding business careers.
Getting Unstuck: How Dead Ends Become New Paths (Harvard Business School Press, 2007).
Many times in life, we will find ourselves at a dead end, in our career or personal world. Far from being a sign of failure,
these dead ends are in fact a developmental necessity. We have, despite our feelings of hurt, self-doubt, or depression,
arrived at a new frontier. The book details a six-step process that leads from their dead end to new possibilities, by learning
to recognize when they are "stuck" -- in personal or professional life -- and how to react to that in a positive way.
CareerLeader In The News. An article
in Canada's Globe and Mail newsletter by a journalist pursuing his MBA described a very
typical CareerLeader experience. The article is available here, with permission of the author.
The
12 Bad Habits That Hold Good People Back: Overcoming the Behavior
Patterns That Keep You From Getting Ahead (Doubleday, 2000).
Based on work originally conceived as part of CareerLeader®,
this book examines common failings, their psychological underpinnings,
and what you can do to correct them. Please read over some comments
about this book from professionals in the field of career development.
This book was originally titled in hardcover Maximum Success: Changing The 12 Behavior Patterns That Keep You From Getting Ahead.
Discovering
Your Career in Business (Addison-Wesley, 1997). The first
book by Butler and Waldroop focuses on how you can discover -- using
our proprietary test included on diskette -- what your true interests
in business work are. Please read over some comments
about this book from professionals in the field of career development.
(Note: we received such a positive response
to this work, that we expanded it greatly, added two more tests,
and turned it into the Internet program we call CareerLeader®.
The book contains the original version of the BCII interests assessment;
with CareerLeader we include the most updated version of this and
the other two tests.)
